A few times on the Domain Name Investing Insights podcast, we have spoken about how it is appearing as though the website flipping market is slowing down somewhat, so naturally, I have an opinion on this matter, and a few insights into where the market is heading. Naturally, you are going to want to read this, as this could be the make of break of your efforts.
What Do Website Buyers Want?
As I spoke about in my last post about customer targeting, you are going to need to get into the head of your buyer, and really source out what it is that they are wanting to buy. This is going to be easy for you if you are in the market of buying and selling websites for profit, however, for those who simply create and sell, this is going to be something that you will need to learn fast.
Consider your avatar, and what it is that they want. For example, when I purchase a website, what it is that I am looking for is a method of monetization that I can replicate, a site that ranks for some great phrases, and a site that is evergreen with none of this blackhat garbage that we see floating around. To me, this spells out opportunity, and if it has a consistent monetization model attached to it, then it is a proven opportunity that I want to buy.
When I create a website, this is how I create a website, and the market that I create the website for, it couldn’t be any more simple than that. If you don’t create a website for that avatar who is ready to buy, well… we all know where that is going to end up…
Is The Website Flipping Market Actually Slowing Down?
To be quite frank, I don’t see the website flipping market slowing down at all. If anything, I see an abundance of demand, but not enough gold to satisfy the market. Considering that we are on the final breath of the startup website boom, the difference between buyers now compared to 6 months ago is that they are now smarter, and they know exactly how to find a website that wreaks of potential.
So, to answer that question, no. The market has not slowed down one bit. In fact, it is picking up pace as the demand is increasing. If anything, there are not enough people creating quality websites that have potential, and we all know what this means when something good is listed on Flippa, right? Competition is going to be fierce, and just so long as you are listing a high quality website that will provide a great return to your buyers, you are certain to get great bang for buck on that auction.
How Can I Add Value To My Site?
