Your Guide To Selling Websites On Flippa
For a few months now, I have been selling websites on Flippa for David Jenyns. Yep! That’s my voice behind those great little videos that have been uploaded with the auctions. It has been a great experience, and in particular, it is a great time to get involved with what is happening on Flippa. In the case that you haven’t heard already, selling websites is back in business, but I am sure that you don’t exactly hide under a rock, so you would be more than well aware of that, right? … right?
Anywhoo… for those who haven’t been following the buzz around town, there are a lot of people who want in on the webmaster game, and as such, they are buying a lot of websites. The primary marketplace for this to happen just so happens to be Flippa. Do you have an account there yet by the way? Go sign up now.
So, what this has instigated is a great way to make a living online, that is much more accessible than other means. You can create a website, let it cook for a few months, then go ahead and sell at a large profit. However, there is also the game that involves buying pre-established websites, developing them a bit more, then re-sell and claim a much larger piece of pie.
Amongst all else, this also makes it easier for webmasters to claim a profit even if their new website is not as profitable as they initially thought it would be. Great news, I know! A website that didn’t quite work out for me a few months ago, I managed to flip for a thousand dollars, and what did I spend creating the site in the first place? How much does a domain cost? 10$. No wait… I’m pretty sure that I even used a coupon code to shed 30% off the cost of that domain, but either way, I spent under 10$, and well… you do the math… that is a huge profit. And all for what? Creating a few articles, doing some basic SEO, letting the website age nicely over 6 months… not a bad return, right?
The good news is that you can do all of this too.
Sounds Great! I’ll List All Of My Websites Right Now!
Whoa, you are going to want to slow down a little. There is a little bit to know about selling websites on Flippa. To be honest, I had never heard of a Flippa Broker until I took the job, so maybe I can help out a little (hint – keep an eye on Website Flipping Broker. I sense something cool is about to happen over there…).
First, think about what it is that you are selling, and intercept the thought pattern of your potential buyer. What are they going to want to know about your site. Is it profitable, how does it generate income, how may it generate income in the future, and so on and so forth. Word this out using basic selling language, but please… try to make it as informative as possible. Don’t repeat yourself (unless its for the purpose of emphasizing a huge selling point), and remove all clutter. Don’t just talk about the website in general, instead, tell your customer a story. Why are you selling it? Why do they want this site? And so on and so forth…
Create An Informative Video
This is something that I never avoid. Regardless of the time needed, this is of huge importance. Your video should detail everything about the website, all selling points, and so on. In essence, a recap of what you have talked about in the sales pitch, but remember… this is your one chance to actually talk to your customer. Don’t end the video with “If you need anything, please ask”, instead, use a direct call to action. “This huge opportunity is destined to go quickly, so secure your chance now at owning an established niche site!”. You would be surprised how powerful a simple suggestion can be, that is what sales is all about.
Show Proof! Do It Now!
Without proof, what do you think is going to happen? Do you think that people will buy your website believing it when you say that you receive 100,000 uniques per day. No. People are going to want to see proof, and more often than not, people will be more willing to jump over to the next auction rather than comment or message you to ask for it. So, do yourself a favor and make sure that you include that in the sales pitch.
I will continue this on over the next few days, if you don’t have an account on Flippa, be sure to head over there and grab one now. If you want to start selling websites on Flippa, this really is going to be your first step. Needless to say really…
