Back in 2009, I remember chasing up my buddy David Jenyns, and told him about these three websites that I owned that I really didn’t have any future plans for. They were good websites, dont get me wrong, they just werent making me any kind of money at all.

Anyway, I popped the question that changed it all. I asked Dave if he had any experience selling websites, to which he replied, “No, but I do hear that they are doing good things over at Flippa”.

The big problem with that was that it cost money to start an auction on Flippa, which I did not have at the time. So, I listed the auction on Digital Point after summoning the courage in Feb 2010. You can see the original auction that…

Hiring your first team member is intimidating. I know this very well, because I have been delaying the inevitable for quite some time now. Why? Here’s the thing. I’ve been let go by employers before with little notice, I have been sacked, I havent been paid, and believe me, I know the pain of being employed by someone who shouldnt have been employing in the first place. The idea of employing a team member is more than just paying someone to do work for you. By hiring someone, you are enabling them to live, providing stability for them and their family, plain and simple, so it is with this in mind that I have taken it slowly, and have not hired anyone yet.

Ezine And The Google Slap – What You Need To Know

So, what happened? Put bluntly, Google slapped Ezine Articles and a handful of other so called content farms in an effort to continuously provide relevant and high quality search results as possible. Could you blame Google really? Not really, I mean it is their job to stay the #1 place to search afterall. I mean, think of it this way. If you went to the supermarket, and they suddenly started selling low quality food that was past its use by date that was not even remotely consumable, would you continue to shop there? Probably not. This is Google’s philosophy, and good part, why they are continually making decisions like these that impact their search, and how us SEO guys rank.

Ezine Articles Is Adding A NoFollow Attribute To Your Links

I feel extremely passionate about this one. Ezine Articles for some time now has been a great place for people like you and me to submit high quality articles, and in return, we are able to receive backlinks for our efforts. Those backlinks have always been crawlable.

As you may or may not be aware, there have been changes in the Google Algorithm that affect so called “Content Farms”, and as a result, many good high quality content websites have suffered, even if unfairly.

For example, eHow, being a website that has for quite some time, answered many random questions that I have, is facing a 60% reduction in traffic due to these changes. Are they a content farm? You be the judge.

Should Flippa Start Policing Domain Sales Under 60 Days Old?

I’ve felt a little queasy about this one for a while now. For those who dont know this (and I really hope that this educates you if you dont!), a domain that is registered can only be transferred to a new registrar once it is over 60 days old. This is ICAAN regulations, and in most cases can not be bypassed. No doubt, this is a limiting factor in a sale, as most people (myself included) are with a specific registrar for a reason.
