Luke Moulton Leaves Flippa

Luke Moulton Leaves FlippaIt has been confirmed that Luke Moulton is leaving Twitter. I have known this for a few days prior to the brief announcement by Luke on Twitter, however, out of respect for Luke, I wanted to leave it to him t do the honors. Either way, it wasn’t too much of a secret to be completely honest, the ad for Luke’s position has been up on Seek for a little bit now, which could only lead one to assume that Luke was moving on, and no doubt with the changes in his life as of late, with the newborn, and factoring in the time that it takes to travel to work every single day, something was bound to give. We even spoke about this in our most recent Domain Name Investing Insights podcast as well, however, that episode has not aired yet, so stay tuned for that one. continue reading…

No Way! Its Episode Two Of Our Website Flipping Podcast!

Website Flipping Podcast

Well, the time has come again to unleash another website flipping podcast! This time, we went for a bit more of a “round the table” approach, and had a little fun in the process. As usual, me, Dave and Danny spoke about various topics in the website flipping arena, and touched on some great topics such as:

  • The fairness of Flippa auction pricing
  • The rather interesting craze that is “3D Domain Names”
  • How Danny bugged Ed Dale’s house, and caught him doing some interesting things on his own…
  • Whether or not The Challenge is going to affect the website flipping market

And on top of that, lots of random banter about continue reading…

The SEO Secret That Most People Don’t Use (Its Why They Fail!)

SEO Secret - With Great Power Comes Great ResponsibilityWho remembers that memorable quote from Spiderman? (see left) “With great power comes great responsibility“. As an SEO Expert, you tend to know everything that it takes to rank your website or page for whatever keyword you choose, this is a great skill, and certainly a power to be reckoned with. I know. My competition know as well. However, it is not always as simple as throwing a few links here and there and hoping for the best, especially if we own a handful of websites, tracking everything is a huge task in itself. It is indeed your responsibility to be on track of everything that you do, where you send links, how you earn them, and so on and so forth. continue reading…

Buying And Selling Websites Podcast – Spread The Word & RT!

buying and selling websites podcastAs you may have seen through my Twitter recently, myself, David Jenyns and Danny Batelic have started a buying and selling websites Podcast. About time, right? I received a call from Dave a few weeks back, talking about how Danny was super keen to start a Podcast on the topic, and wanted to share the camera with a handful of people in the area who had similar interests. The result was the first episode of the “as yet untitled” Podcast that you can see below. continue reading…

Do Flippa Charge Too Much For Their Auctions

A few days ago, I was sitting on YouTube, about to press the upload button for a video debating whether or not Flippa charge too much for their auctions. Truth be told, I have a strong opinion on this, and the only reason that I choose to state how I feel about this is that there are a lot of people out there who simply aren’t prepared to spend to receive in return. Out of these people, I hope that at least some of what I said in that video made some sense.

So, now we are a few days later, and I have a very clear thought pattern, and wanted to talk on my blog about this subject, as I know that this is a touchy topic for not just Flippa, but those who debate this matter as well in the various webmaster forums online, by commenting on blogs, and by posting their concerns. continue reading…

What Link Building Services Do I Use?

I am just fresh of clearing out my support questions that I have received over the past few days, and in a handful of these, I have been asked what link building services I use to rank my websites. Especially when it comes to ranking websites that I am preparing to sell, I generally take quite a lot of care when ranking these websites, however, a certain level of aggression is needed to ensure that I rank for some reasonably tough keywords. It is in this sense that I carefully pick the services that I use, as one slip up can result in some heart ache when you get the Google Slap.

Now, I need to make it very clear that when you are building links to a website, there is a certain level of care that is needed. For one, building backings too fast can be a bad thing. If a page is created one day, then the next day there are several thousand backlinks pointing to that page, then Google is most likely going to become wise, and the results are not going to be that fun to deal with. This is why I have chosen these services specifically for ranking websites that I am building up for the purpose of selling. Curious? Great, read on… continue reading…

Buying Aged Domains And Websites On Flippa

Aged domains on Flippa are a great selling item. However, it is not always that easy to simply buy an aged domain and simply sell it for top dollar. You see, value is something that can not be faked when all the information that you provide and that Flippa backs up is provided to the potential buyer, it is all out there for people to pick apart and hep them make that decision on whether or not to buy or not.

Sure, it is really simple to go ahead and pull out Domain Samurai and find a great aged domain, bid away, then set up a WordPress blog on it and sell some time later, but the problem is not within the domain or the website contents itself, it is something else. Lets take a few moments to discuss that, shall we? continue reading…

The Flippa Search Algorithm – Is SEO For Flippa Auctions Possible?

Flippa.com is an unusual beast when you really try and get an idea of how it really works, and how what you list can be seen by more people. I suppose that is the benefit of me also being an SEO Expert is that in just about everything that I do, I am always considering how I can drive more traffic to that page or auction. Not only that, but my internet marketing side comes out as well, and says “but what about the quality of that traffic”.

Now, when I create an auction, I always have one thing in mind, and that is always the person who is going to buy that website that I am selling. Who are they? What are they after? How much do they want to spend? What do they consider as being “good value”? And ultimately, how are they searching for sites like mine? continue reading…
