Luke Moulton Leaves Flippa

Luke Moulton Leaves FlippaIt has been confirmed that Luke Moulton is leaving Twitter. I have known this for a few days prior to the brief announcement by Luke on Twitter, however, out of respect for Luke, I wanted to leave it to him t do the honors. Either way, it wasn’t too much of a secret to be completely honest, the ad for Luke’s position has been up on Seek for a little bit now, which could only lead one to assume that Luke was moving on, and no doubt with the changes in his life as of late, with the newborn, and factoring in the time that it takes to travel to work every single day, something was bound to give. We even spoke about this in our most recent Domain Name Investing Insights podcast as well, however, that episode has not aired yet, so stay tuned for that one.

Me and David Jenyns had the privilege of being invited to Flippa HQ a few weeks back, being given the full tour of Flippa, we managed to sit down and have a bit of a chat with Luke, and record an interview with him. (see below) Apart from being a genuinely great guy to chat with who had an outstanding vision for the marketplace, he is someone who has a ton on in the background, and has a very solid idea of how to make business work at the same time. Not many like him around.

Now, I’m not going to go into a big spiel about how Flippa will never be the same, as insensitive as that may sound, and how Luke was the main guy who held everything together there, truth be told, there is no one guy who holds the team together at Flippa. I will refer to a comment that was recently made on a post that I wrote. You can see the post here. In the article, I referenced Luke as being on of the main guys over at Flippa, to which he replied in his comment, ‘Just one comment on the kind introduction above. All the people behind Flippa are the “main guys”, I’m just the marketing guy’.

Now, apart from Luke being the most public figure at Flippa, after seeing the work that goes on at Flippa HQ, he couldn’t be closer to the truth. Sure, he has been the marketing guy who has seen Flippa through their rise to the top of the marketplace, but that hasn’t been without effort from the whole team as well.

Luke has been a solid player in the team over at Flippa, but like all great teams, just one cog in a well oiled machine. He has however been the one that people like me touch base with most, and in that sense, he has been a vital part of what it is that Flippa do.

Now, I know there is a bit of talk, shock, and so on about Luke Moulton leaving his position at Flippa, so I am just going to say this much. I know that there is some really cool stuff coming down the pipe at Flippa. I know what some of these “off the record” ideas are, and I can tell you without a doubt that Flippa will continue on as normal. These ideas most likely had Luke’s input as well (as he really does get out there to see what the market wants). I for one am really excited to see who takes up the position at Flippa, but wanted to say cheers to Luke for being such a help, not just to me, but to everyone else who he has stayed in contact with since people like me have started to emerge in this marketplace. He is one of the only of his kind who really has gone out there and got to know his market, the people in that market, and even made time for those people. Cheers mate. :)

Now to recap, I would love to extend an invitation to the new Marketing guy at Flippa. These are some big shoes to fill, and I would love to sit down and have a chat, maybe armed with my bloggie. Coffee is my shout.
