When it comes to creating membership based websites and sales letters, Kajabi and OptimizePress generally both come to mind; two platforms that are somewhat similar in functionality, but in theory do two completely separate things, and I get my fair share of emails in my inbox from my followers wanting to know which platform is best for what they want to use. So, now that the buzz has settled on the launch for both of these membership website solutions, and there are slighly less dirty tactics going on in order to simply get a sale, I’ll do my bit to help out. Lets crack this one wide open with a bold statement….

Kajabi Is Not OptimizePress

Who remembers when both Kajabi and Optimizepress launched? It really was a David and Golliath battle, on one hand you had the massive Guru “syndicate” launch that was almost impossible to compete against, and on the other hand, you had OptimizePress. Created by a much smaller fish in the pond, but you know what? It actually performed, and whilst it was not possible to compete all that hard against a “Syndicate” launch, you know, they actually did pretty well! Even if it did take a few dirty tactics along the way, and a ton of slandering of the bigger launch.

Not that I am a fan of these launches or anything… I like to be sold quality, and only report on quality as such.

At the end of the day though, both solutions, as much as they are vigorously compared against each other, are completely different products. They both offer different functionality, and do two great things but in very different ways.

What Is OptimizePress?

Since its launch in late 2010, OptimizePress has grown from being more than a simple sales letter creator, but a theme and management system for a membership based website, supporting various payment gateways such as PayPal, 1shoppingcart, Clickbank, and Nanacast. It has a built in launch funnel controlled by a simple cookie drop, and is designed from the ground up to convert as best as possible, with countless templates included from your standard sales letters to full blown video squeeze pages. OptimizePress is a theme, so it comes at a one off cost, and also has great iPad and iPhone browser support, which is a huge benefit in itself. You can grab your copy here.

Kajabi on the other hand is a hosted service that you have a smaller amount of control over (ie, if they go down, you go down), however, it has a fantastic membership area and stunning sales letter templates that are on par with what is provided in OptimizePress. There are also a few paid add ons involving your affiliates, plus Amazon S3 is also included in the monthly cost, meaning that you can host your content as well under the one monthly membership cost. It is also worth noting that Kajabi also supports iPad and iPhone browsers, but I have not yet had a smooth experience with it myself.

Lets Do A Comparison

Lets say that you wanted to launch a membership site using OptimizePress. Here’s what you would have to fork out. Initially, you would have to purchase the theme which now sits at $97 (down from $297, you can grab it at the reduced cost here, plus I will also throw in some bonus video training – read below for more details), plus you would have to arrange your shopping cart, or payment gateway (PayPal is free, but other services can cost). On top of that, you would need some kind of hosting for your video, which would more than likely be Amazon S3, which has its own cost depending on how much video content is watched (which is quite minimal really), and the time spent setting up the members area, which is quite an easy and fluent task really.

Now, on the other hand, if you use Kajabi, you will not need WordPress, as everything is hosted in the platform itself. You set up your sales letter, membership area, upload your video content, and your shopping cart. Setting up the sales letter is done minus code editing, and the same applies to setting up the membership area. The cost of Kajabi’s lowest package is $99 per month, with packages trippling in cost to host multiple products.

So, Do The Math

To do a serious comparison here, I’ll talk about an email that I received recently in response to this post (the version prior to this current version). In the email, I was told by one of my followers that they have a product that is around the $50 mark, and they want to launch it ASAP, but are confused with which platform to select.

The way to consider this is quite simple. Lets look at what is needed, and associate a break even point. At $50 per sale, minus affiliate comissions, you will need at least 4 sales to break even on the lowest package that Kajabi has to offer, and that is a recurring point to meet every single month.

For those of us who have never launched a product before, this can be a hard target to meet, so my recommendation is to stick with what will get you to a permanent break even point as soon as possible.

That said, if you have multiple mid to high end products, and want one platform or service to manage each product, by all means, Kajabi would be absolutely perfect for you, that said, I do fear that it may be a little overkill for most people, especially at the cost.

Here’s My Unbiassed Recommendation

After owning and using OptimizePress since around October 2010 myself, plus on my own product (check out the sales page here to see it in action), I am extremely comfortable with this theme. It works when I need it to, it works with WordPress, and is easy enough to use that I can get a sales letter or a squeeze/presell page live within a few minutes.

For the product that I mentioned above, we have an extensive backend set up, as we need to be able to process many payments, manage a large membership base, plus process automatic affiliate payments when they are due.

It is in this instance that we use OptimizePress with Nanacast, which is similar to Kajabi, but with ten times the functionality and under half the price.

This is more of an advanced set up though, especially for someone like myself who needs to manage affiliates, and many members.

A more basic set up may be to set up your product with ClickBank, and integrate that into OptimizePress. The two work seamlessly together to be quite honest.

Either way, without dishing any dirt on a good platform, Kajabi is a bit overkill for most people. Its good! But most people simply will not need a platform like it, especially at the price.

To grab a copy of OptimizePress before they put the price back up to $297, head to www.optimizepress.com

To get an account with Nanacast, visit www.ryantmalone.com/Nanacast

If you purchase either OptimizePress or Nanacast through those links, email me, and I will happily send you a free 30 minute training video that I recently made for my coaching clients that will train you up on how to get the most out of OptimizePress. My treat to you.

To be honest, it was a bit premature, being only a few months on from when I first received the method itself and was able to digest parts of it piece by piece and test accordingly. The bottom line is that after only two months of testing, there is only really so much that can be said. True, I know that the post date of that post is also only not long ago, however, if you want to see why, then you can go ahead and read my Posterous, that has a full explanation of what went wrong with the blog very recently.

The truth of the matter is that I first received my copy of The SEO Method back in December 2009, and have been working on perfecting my own method of SEO since then. Of course, I have even had the opportunity to be one of the first people to get my hands on a copy of the Melbourne SEO Services Workshop DVD’s, being a guest at the workshop, I only just received these DVD’s, which also contain the soon to be legendary, “The SEO Method 2.0” (the DVD’s are now available exclusively from this link).

That’s Great Ryan… What Have You Learned?

Truth be told, since I wrote The SEO Method review, there have been a lot of reviews coming out of the woodworks, and the majority of them are word for word copies of each other (minus a few that are actually good), just for the sake of selling a few copies and earning the affiliate commission. This is not how I am going to handle it. In fact, I don’t really care if you go ahead and buy it or not. Instead, I am going to detail in part, my journey into becoming an SEO Expert (and a Flippa Broker to boot!…. wait… that was completely backwards… :/ )

Lets Go Back To December 2009

At this point (my turning point to be precise), I had a time value of 0. I was getting a lot done, but I was getting the wrong tasks done. (Note to self – Are you working on the right task right now?) Don’t get me wrong, I was ranking one of my blogs on page #1 for a competitive keyword, and that was great! But, I couldn’t rank higher than third, and as we all know, the total difference in traffic between those positions is insane.

So, I got my copy of The SEO Method (it’s a long story, ask me sometime!), and sat through the course. It was great! I now knew what it took to rank my site #1! I was an SEO god! However, the one thing that it didn’t teach (that no method can ever teach mind you…) is how to execute it effectively based on my business model. You see, this is something that is up to you and your business model, it is as simple as that, and your success is dependent on how well you model this into your own business. And this is where my major development came from. Defining what it is that I do, what area I want to focus on, and how I am going to rank over time. That is key.

So, It’s All About Time Management, Right?

Not entirely… its about knowing where to rank, why to rank, how to rank, and how to execute a process designed to rank your page. Its about keeping track of what you are doing, where you are up to, in your own process, and how to continue getting that job done. It is also about developing a process that is repeatable, as you will more than likely need to repeat the job time and time again in order to keep your #1 spot (you have, and always will have competition!).

In a nutshell, I can tell anyone on the planet what my favorite method of ranking a website or page is, but it is not going to matter a damn if you cant handle your time efficiently, and if you don’t test the services first to know and understand which ones work best within your niche, and most importantly, within your business model. The SEO Method was my stepping stone to achieving this goal. Not just learning SEO, but learning to dominate.

So, Where Am I Now?

Right now, apart from writing the next part to The SEO Method Review, I am in the midst of a project that I am working on with David Jenyns, and at the same time, I am able to rank my websites for keywords that matter, keywords that have potential, whether it is monetary/conversion value, or just an ego keyword. Am I dominating? My inbox says that I am doing a pretty good job so far, the same as my time value which has increased significantly. In fact (now I don’t like talking income), since December, my Clickbank balance has increased, I have broken through the dreaded ClickBank CDR (Customer Distribution Requirement), which makes me one in 10 people to actually achieve that goal, and I also happen to rank on page #1 for a set of highly targeted, hand picked keywords that are both putting food on the table, and identifying me as an expert in my niche. I’m certainly not earning thousands a month, but I am earning enough to put food on the table. Everything from here is up to me, the same as it is up to you.

Is The SEO Method To Blame For My Success?

I could easily say yes, but I am going to hold off and let you make up your mind. Yes, it was my kickstart, and was my turning point. Undoubtedly, if I never learned the method, I would not be where I am today. However, the part that turned me from being someone with knowledge to someone who has the skills to succeed was in defining the very method of attack that suited my own business model. This is something that came through raw trial and error. SEO can be taught, but a business model can not. The SEO Method teaches you the skills, and what will help you rank, however, trial and error will ultimately teach you what methods work best for your business.

Should You Purchase The SEO Method?

I will answer this by talking about where I was and where I am today.

To summarize who and what I was at the end of 2009:

I was not earning a cent online.

I knew what I was talking about, but I couldn’t execute.

I was hanging around the webmaster forums 24/7 for help and advice.

The only e-book that I purchased was from Digital Point, and it was mainly black hat.

To summarize who and what I was in February 2010:

I was earning something online, but not much.

I had a head full of knowledge, but didn’t have the skills to execute properly.

I was no longer hanging around the forums for help and advice, rather using that time to test my own skills.

I was learning from every single person and mentor I could find.

To summarize where I am now:

I am an upcoming authority within my niche.

I make good money online (enough to put food on the table and spoil those I love).

I am now a Mac user (I had to throw that one out there… :p).

I am about to launch one of the biggest info products of the year.

Now, forget the last two sets of points. If you relate more to the first set of points, then this method will help you. Now, looking at the second and third set of points, if this is where you want to be, then this method is also going to be for you, however, you are going to need to learn how to execute the whole process depending on your business model. This will take some time, however, as always, the first step is always going to be the hardest. When I received my copy of The SEO Method, well before writing this review for you today, I was very skeptical. I am sure you are too, however, my instinct paid off, as I am sure yours will too.

So, to put it simply, if you are ready to learn how to rank #1 in the search engines, then click below and grab your copy now.

You want to rank #1 in Google, right? Of course you do, and as such, your ears prick up when you see opening sentences such as this, and rightfully so. SEO is a complex set of tasks that most of the experts have taken a long time to learn. Lets not mention that it took me a very long time to become an expert in SEO, and to put it as blunt as possible, if you go through the traditional route, it will probably take you a lot of time as well to learn how to drive traffic to your websites.

So, let me substitute my opening statement to something that is far more appropriate…

You want to “learn” how to rank #1 in Google, right?

That’s more like it. So, now that you have that idea implanted in your head, I want you to think about what you are going to do with that kind of traffic. In essence, how are you going to turn that traffic into valuable dollars?

Enter The SEO Method

Going back to late 2009, I was having a look for some new products that were available that would help me get an entirely different perspective of SEO in general. At that point, I classified myself as somewhat of an expert, but truth be told, I was no different to you. Let me guess, you searched for “The SEO Method Review” in Google, and this page showed up near the top of page one? Now, try and think how I managed to get to the top of Google for an SEO related product review.

The SEO Method is a very large package that contains over 3 hours of footage, along with a handful of resource material, and interviews. Having worked closely with the creator of this method, David Jenyns, for a few months now, I can give you a bit of insight into this product and where it came from.

After his earlier business ventures including selling recycled material from our beloved MCG, and Stock Market training, David Jenyns dropped everything and focused on ways to promote his business online. After purchasing over 500 domain names, and creating websites on these domains, he tested and refined his skills until after years of testing, he came up with the perfect method of SEO. This method became known as The SEO Method.

This Method Will Turn You Into An Expert

Don’t get me wrong, with all of the FTC guidelines that have been kicking in as of late, it would be highly unprofessional of me to use myself as an example of the expected results that you should expect from this method, so I am going to base this review on a few factors.

For this review to be accurate, you must have the following qualities:

You must be patient, and willing to learn.

You must be dedicated to learn this method, and put it into practice every single day

You must not be afraid to spend a little from time to time, as purchasing certain products such as AMA will boost your productiveness ten fold.

The ability to not give up on something because it is too hard

OK, so now that we have got that out of the way, lets talk about the product.

Learning The Search Engines

When you watch the first video in this set of three, you are going to gain an instant understanding of how the search engines work. You will not gain a direct understanding of exactly what the Google algorithm is (no one can teach you that!), but you will get a good understanding from an industry expert on exactly what it is that we know through years of testing and refining.

Once you have watched this video, you will be able to understand exactly how backlinks and PageRank influence how your website will rank.

So, What Are My Thoughts?

Well, I am risking sounding extremely biased because since I first received The SEO Method, I have become friends with the creator of this method, David Jenyns, and speak with him several times a week. So, I am going to do what I can to make this sound as unbiased as possible by going through part of my story.

When I first received the SEO Method, it was apparent that David really knows his stuff, although I will be as straight up as possible here. There is no point in you buying this product if you are not prepared to live and breathe this method for the next few months. By this I mean that you can not go and purchase other SEO products that teach you how to rank #1, that would only serve to confuse you. By living and breathing this method for around 5 months, I truly achieved the status of being an expert in SEO, but not because I emulated a method devised by someone else, but because I took in this method, and allowed it to evolve based on what works for me. You see, this is the real benefit of this method, and the benefit of heading out and purchasing this method today.

When I say that you can rank #1, I’m not kidding. In fact, anyone can rank #1 in Google, however that depends on the level of work that you are willing to put into developing a skill set, and how much time you want to spend refining those skills.

To conclude, I will refer to a question that I asked you near the start of my review of The SEO Method…

You want to learn how to rank #1 in Google, right? Do yourself a favor and go check out The SEO Method before you leave.

PS – If you go ahead with it, contact me, let me know your receipt number and e-mail used to purchase (if you purchased through my link), and I will have a 30 minute chat with you on Skype a month after you went through this method as a bonus, to help clear up any confusion, an get you on the right track.
